Home Tour: A Family-Friendly Apartment in South Bombay

Welcome to a series of home tours that divulge some of our thoughts, ideas, and design tips behind the houses we’ve styled.

Our second tour takes you through a charming old-world apartment with a contemporary finish. Styled for a young couple with a baby, it’s a family-friendly space inspired by the minimalism and functionality of Scandinavian design. Come and take a peek with us!

Living Room

The living room was designed as a multifunctional space formal enough to entertain in, yet comfortable enough for everyday relaxing. While the furniture is streamlined, the high-shine accessories and abstract artwork inspire a sense of grandness. To cozy the space up, we layered in textural warmth through tactile textiles like crushed cushions, velvet throws, and hand-knotted rugs - an inviting gesture to come sit down!

For our pianist clients, we created an inspiring spot to play in with curated collectables and indoor plants. The globe pendant lamps hanging above create a sense of intimacy and drama that makes this section its own while fitting in with the rest of the room.

The semi-formal dining room feels both sleek and inviting with a black glass-topped table and fully upholstered chairs. Overhead, a minimalist floating chandelier illuminates the table with artistry. The console and sideboard are accented with a variety of candles, while a mirror above the former balances all the rectangular edges with some curves.

For convenience and practicality, the guest room was designed as a multi-functional space that could welcome guests as well as double up as a workspace or playroom. A large sectional in the center creates lounge-y vibes that are offset with accents that range from quirky to elegant.

Throughout the room, pairings of abstract prints add color and a dynamic dimension to the space. The end result is a contemporary, trendy room comfortable for the family to use and transform as they desire.
