Simple Tips to Refresh Each Area of Your Home

The littlest things can end up making the biggest difference at home! These small but impactful changes are easy enough to execute and can breathe some much-needed new life into your space. It’s understandable if you’ve gotten tired of your surroundings during the long quarantine we’ve all been in, and so this quick guide will help you use what you already have to make your home feel new again!

Foyer or Hallway

While not necessarily a full room, the foyer or entrance way is where you’ll set the first impression of your home. As the starting point to the rest of the house, it’s the perfect place to display art or decorative items that express a little bit of who you are. If there was anywhere to make a statement (or change your statement) it’s here! So, hang up a painting that delivers the vibe you’re feeling, bring in some fresh seasonal flowers, or pop some fruit into a sculptural bowl. You can play around with colors and decor depending on the time of year.

Kitchen

Whether you spend a lot of time in the kitchen or not, a little reorganization goes a long way! Organize your food by category so everything is easy to find and then edit your utensils, kitchen equipment, and pots and pans to the essentials. At the same time, add in some pieces for flair, like silver serveware, marble platters, or an elegant pitcher that are a joy to look at and use! If you do spend a fair amount of time cooking, it’s easy to add in some personality with decorative touches: Place some framed artwork on the shelves to give the room a mood and not just a function, hang up some patterned plates up as wall decor, or lay down a rug for a cozy feel!

Living Room

A quick way to update your living room is to simply rearrange it. Try changing around your floor plan by moving your sofa to a different wall or changing its orientation. Then, shift around your arm chairs, poofs, coffee tables, side tables and so on around the couch to create a new sense of flow. Sofas and chairs get an easy facelift with a quick change of upholstery  - making them the perfect setting to try out a new trend in either color or material. Or, if you prefer starting smaller, replacing your cushions with a new set (experiment with shapes and sizes!) is a fun way to draw in a new print or texture.

Bedroom

Your bedroom should provide the most serene experience of the house; a place for recharging, solace, and of course, sleep. To make it feel like a total retreat, step up the comfort with some fluffy linens in soothing colors and textures and pile on the pillows. Essential oils have been known to relieve stress and so we recommend bringing in a diffuser to help keep the atmosphere cool and calm.

Bathroom

Just a little organizing and refreshing is enough to bring spa-like feels to your bathroom. To start, nothing feels fresher than a crisp new set of linens and a beautiful basket (think outside traditional laundry baskets) to throw them in after! While it’s impractical to hide all your toiletries and accessories, they can be restyled to elevate the room: Tuck away any unsightly goods in cupboards or drawers, group items like brushes and tubes in jars, gather cotton balls into pretty canisters, and arrange the rest on decorative trays. Interspersing these with plants that can handle humidity like succulents or aloe vera and candles can further enhance the mood!
